We’d like to send a HUGE shout-out to our new friend, Dane Schwartz.  Dane’s mom Paige contacted us in January to ask if Dane could do a fundraiser for Tails of Hope, and of course, we were thrilled to accept!  Dane organized a walk-a-thon, recruiting friends, family, and neighbors to walk to raise money for our cause.  On February 14, despite the snow, cold, and ice, they held the walk—a true labor of love!

As a result, Dane raised almost $500 for Tails of Hope!  He also asked participants to bring pet and cleaning supplies for us to take on our shelter run, and he collected several huge boxes of much-needed items.

We asked Dane what motivated him to do this, and he said that he’s working towards his black belt in karate, and part of that is to do community service.  He loves animals, so this seemed like the perfect fit.  His family adopted Tucker, their Jack Russel / Beagle mix, last year, and you can see what an incredible bond he has with Dane in the pics.  Dane has organized another walk on March 13, this time to benefit The DIPG Foundation, which works to find a cure for this tumor-borne disease that affects mostly children.

At just 10-years-old, we’re AMAZED at what Dane was able to accomplish and we can’t wait to see the great things he’s going to do in the future. His compassion, kindness, poise, and selfless attitude make him a wonderful young man, and we know he is destined for great things!

Thank you SO much, Dane, for everything you’ve done for Tails of Hope.  We are truly lucky to have you on our side!
