Don’t ask Pumpkin about the economy. She knows all about the problem first hand. An unfortunate victim of a foreclosed home, Pumpkin has suddenly found herself homeless. One day she was relaxing with her family in a warm bed and the next day she found herself on a hard concrete floor in a shelter. She was confused and terrified. The world had suddenly become a frightening place. At only a year old, this adorable chunky combo of basset hound and surprise visitor is already showing her intelligence and willingness to learn to her caregivers. She has been perfectly crate trained in a week and does not even need a treat to entice her to go in. She wants very much to be near her own people, if only she could find those forever people. She is so excited by visitors and hopes each time that this will be the person who will take her to a home again and love her. She wants very much to please and has a great personality that will make her a good companion for a family, or a single individual, but she would prefer to be an only dog. She is ready and waiting to be a best friend again. She wants to be with her person all the time and if that individual moves into another room or part of the yard, Pumpkin will come looking for them right away. She has not been abused and associates humans with safety and happiness. Her foster says “As soon as I am out of her sight, she comes running looking for me” She has real separation anxiety and needs to have a family that will be with her most of the time. Old enough to be over the chewing stage, but young enough to love to play, she is housetrained, sits, comes when called, and is and working on obedience training while she waits for a real home again. She remembers what it was like to have her own bed, her yard, her very own people. Perhaps you will be the one to give her back the life she misses so much. She will repay you with wet kisses and all the love her sweet heart will hold.
We are requiring a fenced yard for Pumpkin, an invisible fence will not work for her.
